Stefan DeShazo, an 18 year old senior here at Souhegan High School has a horrific passion. He loves writing  horror stories. Stefan thinks a lot of people have misconceptions about horror and that it’s more than just blood and guts. “It’s about thinking and the thought process.” Stefan stated. Stefan is a very personal writer and likes to keep his writing to himself most of the time. However he did show his former English teacher, Ken Boisselle his horror article. Stefan admits that  Ken was the hardest English teacher he had ever had and that he really edits down to the core.

DeShazo has been writing stories since he was little. Writing has been a part of his life for a while and his parents have always been supportive and  willing to read his writing. We asked if he envies any particular writers or directors and he said, “I envy all writers because they have 400 or 500 pages worth of story in their heads and I find that amazing.” He emphasized this and gives a lot of credit to authors because he knows how much work someone must put into a piece to make it effective.

Writing within the horror genre is new to him. He hadn’t developed the love for horror until Sophomore/Junior year. Stefan wrote an article on what he thinks horror is all about. We urge you to read his article that we have provided below.

Some other things he enjoys doing other than writing in his free time is track, and cross country. He really enjoys running and that is a main hobby of his. He also really enjoys music. Stefan describes himself as careful, fun-loving, and introspective. His favorite subject in school is Chemistry because he enjoys the math in it, and it is overall a really fun and interesting class. All of the English teachers he’s had have told him that he has a talent in writing so he decided to pursue. Stefan is an independent individual who will succeed in the future.
